Sam's Pace and Power prove the difference for five-star Clontarf as Beechlawn Rovers pay price for poor finishing.....

Early on in this encounter i made a little prediction to myself that Beechlawn Rovers would run out comfortable winners and that Eoghan Russell would be the difference between the two sides.
It would not be classed as a bold prediction as the home side seemed more of a unit and Russell is a midget and was wearing the No 10 shirt, midgets wearing 10 are usually quite usefull.
Well Russell played well but it was his opposite number Sam O'Neill that stole the show with a hat-trick as Clontarf ran out comfortable 5-2 winners in the end, that's how much i know.
Rovers took an early lead when they prospered from a goalmouth me-lee following a corner and Denham rifled home from on five. On 10, 'Tarf were level when Dan Judge failed to hold a Graham Moir free-kick.
It was the home side who went in ahead however, when Deco McCabe's defence splitting pass found Kev Feeney free and he kept his head and slid home past Sam Kelly in the Clontarf nets.
The visitors levelled matters in minute 59 when Power and his centre-back got into a bit of a tangle from a Shane Barry cross and a delightful chip from Muir made it 2-2.
Thereafter, the visitors seemed content to soak up the opposition's advances and rely on the breaks. It proved to be a decent plan. Russell squandered a glorious oppurtunity on 62 when he missed the target with only Kelly to beat.
Then Double D struck the upright with a header from a Orey Roche cross before Clontarf took the lead.
O'Neill showed decent pace to nip in between 'keeper and centre-half and head home a long range clearance from Sean Kinane.
O'Neill effectively wrapped up proceedings when he again showed electric pace to slot home another long clearance with 11 left on the clock.
And he then bagged his hat-trick in the dying moments and gathering gloom when he raced clear again to round off a perfect day for he and his Clontarf team-mates.
The scoreline does tend to flatter the visitors somewhat and Beechlawn Rovers will be ruing a number of missed chances as they play back the tapes on this one.
