Beechlawn Park Stadium in North Dublin
|
Construction work has been completed on Beechlawn Park, the new stadium for Dublin football club, Beechlawn Rovers. The club, bankrolled by Latvian businessman, Tram Beard, will move into the ground in time for their return to football next season. The stadium boasts a couple of Irish firsts; under-soil heating and a cantelever stand (no other Irish club stadium currently has either). This stand, named the Des Feeney Stand, will hold a capacity of almost 28,000. Funding to completed work on the stadium was secured when McVitie's provided the first payment of their 5-year sponshorship deal to the club earlier in the year.
First team manager, Robert Roden, is very impressed at the team's new home: "We have the players and coaches, now we have the stadium to match the club's ambition. I am delighted that our loyal following will be able to avail of these magnificent facilities." The capacity of Beechlawn Park will be 82,000, however there are plans afoot to raise this to over 95,000 if planning permission is granted from Dublin City Council.
